GARY TOBEY

Gary Tobey's law practice emphasizes community associations, real estate, and estate planning.  He is a long-time member and contributor to Community Association Institute education programs and the Colorado Legislative Action Committee.  He assisted in the drafting and passage of the Colorado Common Interest Ownership Act.  

Background.  In 1970, he moved to Denver for law school where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Denver Law Journal.   He has been in the private practice of law since then, helped build a family of talented women, participated in government and political matters, and has served as a volunteer Civil Air Patrol officer as a mountain mission pilot, Commander of the Colorado Wing, and later the Rocky Mountain Region, consisting of five states, 4,000 people, and 40 aircraft.

Back, background you may not know.  Gary Tobey has extensive experience as a team player in conflict.  He played football through high school and four years of college and was a Naval Aviator who flew 188 combat missions as a single-seat jet attack pilot from the carrier USS Enterprise.  He assisted in the rescue of seven fliers shot down in four separate incidents in or just off shore the enemy territory of North Vietnam.  He also flew in historic events such as the Pueblo Incident off Korea and air support for U.S. Marines in the 1968 Tet Offensive near Khe Sanh and Hue in the northern part of South Vietnam.   He then served as legal officer for a 1,200-person squadron and as instructor pilot in advanced combat tactics.  He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and more than 30 awards for his combat service.
